Over 200 multi wireless, multi sensor, edge computing devices and robotic nodes have been deployed across a 7.2km highway connecting four innovation centres, along with 2 5G nodes and a state-of-the-art digital twin. All of these technologies are connected by the UMBRELLA platform that is accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.
Learn more ►ENLIGHT’EM is EC’s H2020 project that aims to design IoT systems that can leverage the low baseline energy consumption of LEDs to jointly deliver lighting as well as networked communication. ENLIGHT’EM will train a new generation of innovators and provide them with the know-how to contribute to the development of the IoT in the world of 5G and beyond. Fifteen early stage researchers (ESRs) will evolve into leading-edge experts in a diverse array of sub-fields leading to the integration of low-energy VLC into the IoT.
Learn more ►Secure Wireless Agile Networks (SWAN) brings together advances in three fields: RF Cyber Security, Agile and Resilient RF, and enabling RF and security technologies for dynamic spectrum access. The immediate beneficiaries of this programme are the companies, Government departments and the University directly undertaking the research. This programme is also designed to educate and inform both the academic and industrial communities outside the partnership through workshops, tutorials, demonstrations and publications, thus helping to promulgate the of Secure by Design ethos and help to make essential devices and systems secure.
Learn more ►The 5G-ENCODE project will examine new business models for private mobile networks in the manufacturing sector. These would include neutral hosting, the sharing of in-building infrastructure by mobile operators to provide ubiquitous coverage inside buildings and spectrum pooling and sharing where licensed and unlicensed spectrum could be shared amongst private and public network operators. The project aims to examine the utility of these business model to understand the most cost-effective method of delivering 5G in an industrial setting.
Learn more ►This Innovate UK funded project aims to overcome privacy concerns and associated transmission latency experienced by contemporary Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, increasing the resilience and security of industrial IoT items, and enabling the UK to develop future networks.
Learn more ►Greenedge is a Marie Skłodowska Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN). Its chief goal is to promote, design and implement machine learning based computing systems for the mobile edge that are highly energy efficient. For this, a research and training program has been carefully developed covering multi-disciplinary topics spanning from machine learning to renewable energy resources.
Learn more ►The BEACON-5G (Building REconfigurable, Agile, SeCure, and TrustwOrthy Systems for OpeNness in 5G) project aims to develop an end-to-end 5G system, aligned with Open RAN framework and principles, with reconfigurability, security, trustworthiness, and service architecture agility. Its vision is to realize a high-performance 5G system with native capabilities of openness, security, and trustworthiness, that can be rapidly reconfigured and optimised for operation in diverse industry-centric and consumer-centric applications in dense urban local/private as well as in public/carrier environments.
